Qatar

Qatar Overview

Qatar is a small Arab country in southwestern Asia. It occupies a peninsula that juts from eastern Arabia into the Persian Gulf. Doha is Qatar’s capital and largest city.

Nearly half of the population of this small Middle Eastern nation lives in the capital Doha. Here you can browse market stalls at the souks, puff on a fruit-flavoured shisha pipe or sip mint tea. You’ll find the beaches of Al Khor north of the capital – you can either relax or try out some of the water sports.

If you want to get away from the city take a desert safari to climb 200-foot-high sand dunes at Khor al-Adaid in a 4×4. Or take a boat trip to explore the islands off the coast of Qatar.

CLIMATE

Summer temperatures sometimes rise above 120 °F (49 °C), but the winter is cooler.
