Singapore Climate
Singapore has a tropical rainforest climate, characterised by high humidity, consistent temperatures, and frequent rainfall year-round. The average temperature ranges from 77°F (25°C) to 88°F (31°C), making it warm throughout the year. The wettest months are November to January due to the northeast monsoon, but rain can occur at any time.
The best time to visit is between February and April when rainfall is relatively lower, and the weather is slightly more pleasant. Despite the occasional showers, Singapore’s weather remains suitable for travel at any time of the year.
Safety advice for Singapore
Most visits to Singapore are trouble-free. Be aware of the risk of street crime, in particular, bag snatching. Take care of your passport. Violent crime in the country is very rare.
Drunk and disorderly conduct is treated seriously in Singapore. Penalties for convicted offenders include fines, imprisonment, and/or corporal punishment (caning). You should drink responsibly and know your limits. It’s illegal to drink alcohol in public places from 10:30 pm to 7 am and all day on weekends in specific areas and designated Liquor Control Zones.
The death penalty exists for certain offences, including murder and drug trafficking. There are severe penalties for all drug offences that are undertaken within the country. Trafficking is defined by possession of drugs above a certain amount (500g in the case of cannabis).
Possession of even very small quantities can lead to imprisonment, corporal punishment (caning) or the death penalty. If you are in any doubt, just don’t do it.
Terrorists are likely to try to carry out attacks in the country. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.
