Andorra

Andorra Overview

Andorra is one of the smallest countries in the world and lies high in the Pyrenees Mountains between France and Spain. Andorra la Vella (Andorra the Old), a town of about 22,000 people, is the capital.

In 1993, the people of Andorra adopted their first constitution. The Constitution strictly limited the role of the princes in the government and placed responsibility for governing Andorra in the hands of an elected prime minister and parliament.

Many tourists visit Andorra each year. Enjoying the rugged beauty of the mountains, the old churches, and the quaintness of the countryside. In addition, large numbers of people go to Andorra each year to purchase goods that are relatively inexpensive because Andorra charges almost no tax on them.
