Zambia
Zambia is a country of breathtaking wilderness, untamed rivers, and warm hospitality. In this travel guide to Zambia, you’ll find insight into its spectacular landscapes, thriving wildlife, and rich cultural experiences. From roaring waterfalls to quiet riverbanks under vast skies, the country captivates adventurers, culture seekers, and nature lovers alike.
Discover Zambia
Known for offering some of Africa’s finest safari experiences, Zambia is home to world-renowned national parks such as South Luangwa, Kafue, and Lower Zambezi. Here, wildlife roams freely across sweeping plains and along riverbanks, making it a paradise for photographers and animal enthusiasts. One of the country’s crown jewels is Victoria Falls, where the powerful Zambezi River plunges over a dramatic cliff, creating a misty spectacle known locally as “Mosi-oa-Tunya” — the Smoke That Thunders.
Zambia’s urban life adds a vibrant contrast to its natural beauty. The capital, Lusaka, offers bustling markets, artisan craft stalls, and restaurants serving traditional dishes such as nshima with vegetables, fish, or meat. Meanwhile, the historic town of Livingstone acts as the gateway to Victoria Falls and the heart of adventure tourism. Visitors can explore museums, learn about Zambia’s heritage, and experience activities ranging from river rafting to scenic helicopter flights.

Zambia Climate
Zambia has a tropical climate with distinct wet and dry seasons. The rainy season typically lasts from November to April, bringing lush greenery and occasional downpours. The dry season, from May to October, is the best time to visit, especially for wildlife viewing, as animals gather around water sources.
During this period, daytime temperatures range from 73°F to 86°F (23°C to 30°C), while nights can be cooler, especially in June and July. October is the hottest month, with temperatures often reaching up to 95°F 35°C.
Safety advice for Zambia
Take care if you travel in the rural parts of North Western, Copperbelt, Central and Luapula provinces close to the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) particularly after dark. There is a risk of explosive remnants of war in remote areas near the borders with Angola, Mozambique and DRC.
Travel in major cities, as well as the major game parks, is generally safe during daylight hours. However, serious crimes can and do occur, like armed robberies and sexual assault.
Terrorist attacks across the country can’t be ruled out. Attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.
