TWENTY one miles west of London, situated on the banks of the river thames lies Windsor.
Better known for its castle which unfolds over thirteen acres of parkland above the thames. Several areas of the castle are open to the public which include St George's Chapel, the state apartments, the exhibition of the queen's presents and royal carriages and the round tower which looks down on the ever changing life of the river thames
Most of the towns architecture is built from the Victorian and Georgian periods and with its cobbled streets is perfect for strolling around, whilst window shopping. Or if you prefer why not spend a day at lego land, which is within easy reach from Windsor's centre.
Being so close to London, Windsor is an ideal destination for a day trip or can be used if you want to escape the city for several days.
If you are looking for a hotel, hostel or want some ideas for a day out you can easily do so by clicking on the links above. The directory will show you what restaurants, nightclubs, theatres etc can be found in the local area, as well as car hire companies and local taxi firms.
