DOMINATED by its desecrated Abbey, which lies above the town, Whitby is an ideal destination to spend several days, if you want to escape the larger towns and cities.

With its strong sea going traditions, Whitby's fishing harbour provides a natural charm, and a place where you can sit and relax on a summers day. Divided by the river esk you will find the old town on one side and the newer West Cliff on the other, which is home to the quayside.

If you want to get out of town, why not enjoy a coastal walk to Robin Hood's Bay or with the North York Moors National Park on Whitby's doorstep, you can experience nature at its best.

Whatever you decide to do, Whitby is a destination not to be missed!
