OFTEN used as an overnight stop on the way to or from mainland Europe, Folkestone can be an appealing destination if you decide to stay for several days.

Once a fishing village, Folkestone rose to prominence during the 19th Century when the majestic terraces that dominate the town were built.

Located on the edge of the North Downs, some of the finest views of Southern England can be enjoyed, whilst exploring the surrounding countryside. If you decide to stay in town, a walk along the grassy promenade known as the Leas extends along the cliff top where attractive wooded walks slope down to the beach.

As a gateway to mainland Europe via the channel tunnel, the Eurotunnel passenger terminal takes freight, cars, and foot passengers to Calais/ Coquelles faster than any other cross channel service.
