SITUATED on the banks of the river exe, Exeter is ideally located if you want to explore the surrounding countryside, where you can take in the Dartmoor National Park including the Canonteighn Falls and Country Park and the North Exmoor National Park.

With a history that spans 2000 years, parts of the massive red walls that formed the old Roman city can still be seen, although much of Medieval Exeter was sadly destroyed during World War Two. Some excellent architecture can still be found in Exeter's Cathedral, where its 300ft naive is the longest span of Gothic vaulting in the world.

Thanks to a large student population, Exeter's nightlife is vibrant with a good selection of cafes, bars and restaurants catering for most tastes.

If you are looking for a hotel, hostel or want some ideas for a day out you can easily do so by clicking on the links above. The directory will show you what restaurants, nightclubs, theatres etc can be found in the local area, as well as car hire companies and local taxi firms.
