WITH the discovery of a mineral spring in 1715, Cheltenham became Britain's most popular spa, and with in half a century architects were commissioned to design a new town. Which resulted in many fine buildings such as the domed pump room being constructed. Surrounded by parkland, the pump room is a place where you can sample some natural alkaline water, which was said to cure any illness.
Situated off the main high street the main focal point of Cheltenham, is the the Promenade which is lined with the town's grandest houses and feature some excellent boutique's.
If you find yourself in Cheltenham during March, Prestbury Park is host to the annual Cheltenham Gold Cup horse race, and makes for an ideal day out.
However long you decide to stay Cheltenham offers a vibrant nightlife and is a destination that shouldn't be overlooked, even if its just for a day.
