Airlines will not request a medical certificate, based solely on your disabilities. However, they are able to request a medical certificate if there is reasonable concern that medical assistance will be required during the flight. For example if someone is flying in a stretcher or incubator, or has a medical condition which may cause concern to the airline, for example if you are travelling with a communicable disease you will also be required to produce a medical certificate, which states the infection will not effect any of the airline’s crew or passenger during the flight.
A medical certificate is a statement of health which can be provided by your doctor stating that you are capable of completing the flight without extra medical care.
If a medical certificate cannot guarantee the safety of the airline passengers then the airline may deny you to travel. For further information you should contact the airline direct before purchasing your ticket. |
